Marianne Marx-Bleil was to be found on her walks (with her dog), often early in the morning at sunrise and on her travels, usually with a sketchpad. Impressions were captured with a quick line in pictures and writing. In her studio "Mari", she then created her ink paintings, usually very sparing in their use of colour. And again, the unpainted surfaces are so important, the brushstrokes only hinting at structures but creating an overall harmonious impression that conveys to the viewer the vastness, beauty of nature, even an inner experience of nature
